This web site lists the publications of Roger R. Betancourt
and his coauthors in three main topic areas: The economics of
production, where the main focus has been the analysis of
capital utilization or shift-work; The economics of the
distribution sector, where the main focus has been the
analysis of retail and distribution systems; And, economic
development, where the main focus has been in applications of
the new institutional economics and the study of the Cuban
economy. Most of the publications in these topic areas ( all
in economic development) are available in electronic form and
can be downloaded from this site. Published papers are
copyrighted by the publishers. Users may make a single copy of
published papers for educational purposes. Earlier research
work in a variety of other areas (prior to 1981) is listed in
the CV and the publications can be downloaded from the
respective journals, which are now available through most
library services. The section on teaching provides information
on the names, theses titles, first and current known placement
of the 57 students who have written their dissertations under
Professor Betancourt's supervision. It also provides
information on the two general topics for which he is willing
to design and teach special courses. Menglin Cao's
assistance in the construction of the original site is
gratefully acknowledged; the current redesign was facilitated
by the able assistance of Veer Singh.
