Biography
Erkut Y. Ozbay is a Professor of Economics, and the Director of Experimental Economics Laboratory at the University of Maryland. He attended Bogazici University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology and master’s degree in Economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in 2007.
His research is in the fields of behavioral and experimental economics. He is interested in understanding and predicting human behavior by introducing theoretical models, conducting laboratory and online experiments, and analyzing existing data using machine learning tools. The application of his work focuses on the impact of the presentation of alternatives on the consideration sets and choices of the consumers. His papers have been published in top general interest and field journals. In addition to his presentations in numerous departmental seminars and international conferences, he has given special lectures and keynote talks in the fields of behavioral and experimental economics.
